El Instituto Cultural de Providencia fue creado en 1961 y se ubicaba en la ex “Casa Dussaillant”, la que sufrió importantes daños en el terremoto de 1971 y fue finalmente demolida. Posteriormente se adquirió en 1978 la mansión conocida como Casa Schacht, remodelada especialmente y que corresponde al sitio actual del Instituto. El edificio fue declarado monumento histórico el 2005 y hoy alberga tanto conciertos, como muestras de arte y exposiciones de diverso tipo.
The Instituto Cultural de Providencia (Cultural Institute of Providencia) was created in 1961 and located at the former “Dussaillant House”, which suffered catastrophic damage during the 1971 earthquake and was torn down. Later, in 1978, the “Schacht House” was acquired and remodeled especially for its current purpose. The building was declared historical monument in 2005 and hosts concerts, art exhibitions and many other events.
